Ilona Paris, LMHC
In addition to her professional career as one of the leading dominatrixes in the international scene, Ms. Paris has her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, and is a licensed Mental Health Counselor. She has been a specialist for the City of Boston in developing a Trauma Program for women who have co-occurring disorders in mental health, substance abuse and trauma for inner city women. She also has specialized in working with substance abuse in two Boston clinics dealing with methadone treatment.
Additionally, Ms. Paris maintains a private practice in which she specializes in counseling people who are into alternative lifestyles in their sexuality. Her main focus is to give non-judgmental support to individuals so they can develop healthy foundations, whatever their sexual outlook. Ms. Paris believes that only certain individuals are born with a “kink gene” that usually manifests between the ages of 7 and 12. She has great empathy in talking with and about those who are into the more unusual aspects of sexual expression.
She has been featured on panels for the Fenway Community Health Center and at Cambridge College as a specialist in alternative lifestyles, hired as an expert on the Richard Sharpe case (a transvestite dermatologist in Massachusetts who murdered his wife) and been a guest speaker on numerous radio shows discussing a variety of clinical issues in the treatment of women with co-occurring disorders. She has represented the Boston Public Health Commission while speaking on trauma on WBZ-AM. She has discussed the Pamela Smart murder case on The Dennis & Callahan Show on WEEI- 850 AM, and has represented her alma mater, The John Robert Powers Modeling School, on KISS–108FM (one of Boston’s largest radio stations), discussing the lives of supermodels. As Lady Leopard, she has represented herself on WAAF 107.3 FM in a three-hour special on the Jay Ferrera Show, after which Mr. Ferrera said “Lady Leopard lit up the phones like Christmas trees” and offered her a weekly spot on his show. (She declined to take the spot, planning to tickle the public with her own show once You Know You Love It hits the shelves.)
Aside from promoting herself on panels and radio, Ms. Paris has gotten herself featured several times in the specialized glossy magazine Dominatrix Directory International (DDI). Her research in the field of sadomasochism has been featured in the newsletter The New England Leather Association, as well as other leading fetish periodicals. An active member of Kink Aware Professionals (KAP), a national directory featuring doctors, lawyers and spiritual leaders who specialize in supporting erotic minorities, Ms. Paris truly has a national following among people “in the Scene.”
Beautiful, poised and commanding, Ilona Paris is also something you wouldn’t expect – hilariously funny. She has the ability to charm audiences with her combination of strong womanly presence and crazy earthy humor. As befitting someone who has been a professional fashion model, ballet dancer, actress, art dealer, modeling instructor and freelance beauty writer, she is an unusual mix of style, candor and zaniness. She has a charismatic ability to connect with her audience, whether in a one-on-one interview or over the airwaves to thousands of people. All in all, you couldn’t invent someone who’ll make a better spokesperson for the unorthodox yet endlessly fascinating practice of S&M, introducing the community at large to the joys and perils of the dominatrix lifestyle.
